Summer 2026 had a mean temperature of 16.5°C, making it the warmest UK summer since records began in 1884. This beats the previous record set just one year earlier (2025: 16.1°C). In addition:
- Record UK June temperature (38.0°C) set in Norfolk
- Record August temperature for Wales
- Record number of 30°C+ days
- First year ever to hit 35°C in May, June, and July
We look set to be coping with warmer summers for the future, but have a housing stock designed to retain warmth, rather than manage it year-round. Hot weather can be mitigated through:
- Improved shading on windows
- Airing the house overnight, and closing up by day
- Air conditioning, although this is expensive to install & run
All the above work more effectively with a well insulated house. Bauwer thermal insulated render works year round, and is suitable for use on older properties with solid walls. We have examples of projects in conservation areas & listed properties. Othe advantages are:
- Lower heating bills & improved comfort in winter
- Fully breathable to ensure no build up of moisture in the walls & interior
- Totally inert materials with Class A fire rating
- Get an instant bag estimate!
